Ketrik thought of that now, as he neared Earth where he had not set foot for so long. He is probably best known for being the co-author of Ray Bradbury's first professionally published story, "Pendulum," which appeared in November 1941 in Super Science Stories. Hasse co-authored two more published stories with Bradbury: "Gabriel's Horn" (1943) and "Final Victim" (1946).
Hasse began his career in the 1930s science fiction magazines and frequently worked in collaboration with others, notably A Fedor, with whom he published his first story "The End of Tyme" in November 1933 Wonder Stories. His most famous work is the novelette "He Who Shrank," published in August 1936 Amazing, which is anthologized in both the classic 1946 collection "Adventures in Time and Space" edited by Raymond J. Healy and J. Francis McComas, and in Isaac Asimov's memoir of 1930s science fiction "Before the Golden Age." The story features a narrator who undergoes drug-induced miniaturization, visiting a succession of nested universes whose progression towards the infinitely small eventually loops back to the infinitely large.
Hasse frequently collaborated with other writers, including Emil Petaja, whose pseudonym E Theodore Pine he once shared. His one science fiction novel published in book form during his lifetime was "The Stars Will Wait" (1968), which is a space opera.
