Summary

The Science Fiction Writers of America made him its third SFWA Grand Master, and the Horror Writers' Association made him one of the first three winners of the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement. He is associated with the pastoral science fiction subgenre.
In Simek's stories, it is often said that there is no time in the past that a time traveler can go to. Our world moves with the flow of time, and moving to another place in time is moving to another world. Thus, in the city, our planet is full of ants, but smart dogs and remaining humans escape to other worlds over time.
Simak's short stories and novels range from contemplative, thoughtful, and pastoral to pure horror. Simak published many inexplicable science fiction novels. Simak's characters encounter alien creatures and concepts they cannot and will never understand.
