John Stewart Williamson, who wrote under the name Jack Williamson, was an American science fiction writer and one of several writers referred to as the "Deans of Science Fiction." Breuer, a physician who wrote science fiction in his spare time, had a powerful talent and steered Williamson away from dreamlike fantasy and toward more rigorous plots and more powerful narratives.
