Summary
The story is set in 1984, 15 years after the Earth's northern hemisphere was devastated by a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. In a small town in Argentina, two nuclear scientists, Professor Lee Richardson and Comrade Professor Alexis Petrovitch Pitov, are working on a project together.
Richardson and Pitov are both outstanding scientists, but their backgrounds and ideologies are very different. Because Richardson is an American capitalist and Pitov is a Soviet communist. Despite their differences, they collaborate effectively on projects.
One day, while working in the lab, Richardson and Pitov make a breakthrough: discover a way to harness the power of atoms for peaceful purposes... .
