제임스 매튜 배리(James Matthew Barrie, 1860년 5월 9일 – 1937년 6월 19일)는 스코틀랜드의 소설가이자 극작가로 피터팬의 창시자로 가장 잘 알려져 있다. 그는 스코틀랜드에서 태어나 교육을 받은 후 런던으로 이주하여 몇 편의 성공적인 소설과 희곡을 썼다.
Barrie의 가장 유명한 작품은 1904년 초연된 연극인 Peter Pan 또는 The Boy Who wouldn't Grow Up다. 이 연극은 성장을 거부하고 마법의 땅 네버랜드에 사는 어린 소년 Peter Pan의 이야기를 담고 있다. 요정과 해적의. Peter Pan은 수많은 영화, TV 프로그램 및 뮤지컬로 각색되었으며 역사상 가장 인기 있는 동화 중 하나다.
