Alice O'Connor (born Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum; January 20, 1905 – March 6, 1982 known as Ian Rand) was a Russian-born American author and philosopher. She is credited with developing her own fiction and her philosophical system, which she termed Objectivism. She emigrated to the United States in 1926, where she was born and educated in Russia. After her first two unsuccessful novels and two Broadway plays, she rose to fame with her 1943 novel The Fountainhead.
